Everest Institute.. Anyone have info?

I'm looking into the Everest institute LPN program in Southfield.. I called and they want you to attend an info meeting however, I will be out of town on the next two dates they are offering. Has anyone gone to one of these meetings? If so could you share any info on the program? TIA!!!

Please check out a recent report that aired on Nightline about 3 weeks ago regarding For-Profit Colleges. These colleges are taking advantage of people. The credits will not transfer and most of these colleges are not accredited. I urge you to look into Everest Institute carefully. I would even go so far to contact local hospitals nursing recruiters and get their input. It took my 4 1/2 years to get my RN license from a local community college and it was well worth it.

Well, the program is accredited and far as the credits transferring I'm not worried about that because I have all prerequisites to apply to any nursing program. I decided on the LPN route because I was tired of waiting list. Also, any school you attend is what you make of it!!! The school you graduate from doesn't determine what kind of nurse you will be. Nursing comes from within!! Thanks for your input!!!:)

Patiently how r u liking the program thus far?

The program is okay thus far, a bit disorganized, but oh well!! I love my clinical instructor we learn aot from her. Level 1 is almost over thank GOD!!! It wasn't hard but things change from day-to-day. I will be more glad when I'm finish.

Hi patientlywaiting33,

I am interested in Everest after finding the huge waiting lists at all the other schools. How do you finance the tuition. I believe it would be more than I can get from financial aid. Have you heard good things about getting a job afterwards? How is it going?

You can take out personal loans that you pay small amounts while you're in school. $20.00....Yes, you will find employment once you finish the program and pass your state boards....never let anyone tell you that they don't hire Everest Nurses, that almost kept me from attending the program.:uhoh3: I'm so glad I didn't listen!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, It's going pretty good starting level 11 Jan. 3rd. Very time consuming and lots to learn..I don't blame you for not wanting to be bothered with all those waiting list. I ran into the same problem. Good luck...if you need more info feel free to ask.

Patiently, how long have you been in the program now?

I've been in the program since September 7. 2010.

Hey Patiently what did you have to go through to get into the program at Everest? I am considering them as well. What are the hours of classes and clinicals??

Yeah... I'm also tired of all those waiting lists!

I moved to MI from IL, where the situation isnt much better. Here I already spent about $300 only on various applications to different schools (why can't I take one RN entrance exam and just sent the results to all the colleges? why each school has to charge me $50 it's ridiculous! The Gov ought to step in!)

But anyway, I heard there's that LPN school in Toledo that admits 4 times a year, and tuition is about $9000 for out of state students. The Toledo School of Practical Nursing, they are called. But that is a hassle in itself to drive there everyday!

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth to do that or go to an Everest-like money grabber and start working sooner!

It's such a mess! :(

So when is everest's next application deadline? I'll try to go check them out tomorrow...

I'm just worried about having to retake all the LPN courses (would other colleges and universities offering a bridge accept everest's credits) when I go to an RN brige program, coz I definitely want to continue further into BSN

Any help?

Everest accepts for the full time program in january may and september if im not mistaken. The part time its being offered in february. That's the class that I will be in. I'm excited and looking forward to it. The price is pretty steep but at this point im just ready to get started and tired of waiting!! If I didn't have to work I definitely would have taken the full time route.so far though it has been pretty organized. I hope it stays that way!!
