Call the hospitals in the area. They often have them. Also, look online at red cross and the American heart association for locations that offer the course.

Thanks, I have been doing exactly that and so far they are all doing classes at the end of the month. If anyone knows of any courses being held this weekend or early next week, please post a note.

D'OH! ALEX!!

You could've went to the Beaumont BLS class on Jan 15th!

Call Beaumont and see if they are having another one

You should really try to get in on a BLS class - the one for Beaumont

is for healthcare professionals and covers using a mask for resps, etc.

Who are your instructors??

I am in Med Surg II (cardiac) and our first day at the hospital

someone coded. In previous rotations, the students were pushed

out of the way and we couldn't even see anything......

WELL...... my instructor was practically pushing us in there and

some students were doing compressions (yes - you will too!)

I LOVE the Med Surg clinicals and had a great day today!! If you love

the nursing home then you are really going to love the rest of nursing school!!!

Start a new thread and start posting some of your experiences, etc....

I would love to hear about whats going on!

Well I don't love the nursing home.. :)

It's been interesting so far, but I can't wait until we get to the hospital. Long term care is definitely not my bag. For professors I have Knesek (lab and clinicals..she's awesome!) and Malik and another for fundamentals..I can't remember the last one's name..silly me. I am enjoying clinical a lot more than the lectures at this point.

Sounds like you're still pumped! You were right about the B's..got my first 2 B's last semester..didn't piss me off like I thought it would. I wish I didn't have to work though school but oh well.

I'll start a thread when something interesting comes up. Some of these people in nursing school scare me..that is all. :uhoh3:

What days are you in E building? Haven't ran into you yet..

Right now I'm in E bldg on Mon and Thurs mornings - next 8 weeks I think it is Mon and Wed mornings (can't remember.....)

Andy is an excellent instructor - I am so glad that you have her!!
