Hi! I am a new grad BSN from Canada and planning to move to MI in Oct. I am currently working at surgical unit. By the time I move to MI I will have some experience.

How is the job market over there for Canadian nurses? Also is it better to apply through head hunter or visiting the site (hospitals) and ask about the hiring?? Plz advice me!!

Specializes in Neurotrauma Intensive Care.

Under what immigration status are you moving to Michigan? Most major hospital systems have online application systems that go through HR. Usually you are not flagged by HR unless you meet certain criteria (that is, unless you know someone in the system). I'm a Canadian resident working in Detroit and it was easier to get a job in Detroit than in Canada. The job market is friendly to Canadian job applicants if you have all the certifications/licensing that's required (Michigan Nursing license, VisaScreen). Once you secure a job, you begin the immigration process...

Thank you so much Christina!! It is so helpful. I am applying TN visa once I find the job. I would like to get a job near Rochester!!
