Hello RN's in Michigan. I would like to here from RN's on this site. I visit this site quite often and mostly students are taking over. I love to read what the student nurses are up to but I would really love to here from current nurses. Let me introduce myself :mad:

I am from Detroit and currently work on a cardiac telemetry unit at St. John's Hospital. I work midnights and usually have 6 patients at night. Not that great,as far as, the patient ratio and management, but team work on my unit is great. However, I would like to know about other hospitals, pros and cons, benefits, or just if you like where you work.

Please state the name of the hospital, the type of unit and just a few details of why you chose to work there. Thanks

I understood what you meant, and I am a student. I will be doing my Peds rotation at St. John's and know nothing about the hospital. I will be graduating in December,and I was wanting to ask you how you liked it there. Did you know where you wanted to work upon graduation? I am confused on which hospital to go to, there are so many around here. The DMC (Harper,Hutzel, Karmanos) is where most of my training has been, and they have asked if we would be interested in working for them. Good luck to you and I will be nosy and read what the RN's are saying on this thread, you are right, you hardly ever see RN's posting on here, mostly students.

I know someone that works in Peds as a Patient care tech and they love it. Its very quiet at night when I go to visit, but its a great floor if you love to work with kids. The only negative thing about it is the unit is not filled all the time and the census can be very low. Most critical cases are shipped off to either Childrens hospital or U of M. I would suggest you get a fill of Childrens hospital, you will learn a lot there and see so much. I had my clinical rotation there and it was the best fun.

As for me- I work at a hospital in NE Ohio CVSICU. From what I have read in this forum we have it better here than anyplace else in this part of the country.

The one thing AN.com. has done for me is make me appriciate where I work and to be a little sad about the state of nursing across the country/world.

Glad to hear you like where you work. I absolutely LOVE being an RN, from my very first day as one. I work in west Michigan and believe we're lucky to work for the hospitals over here in the Grand Rapids area.
