  1. Secret to successfully inserting an NG tube?

CNL2B is spot on with her steps. Only one other thing I have to add is that I would tell my nurses as I begin insertion, aim for the ear (on nostril insertion side). Sometimes that helps get around the bend. Take every opportunity to practice and it...
  2. When did patients become "clients"?

My feelings exactly. My patients are a sacred trust to me and I would not trade that relationship for a client relationship for anything. Clients are so easily forgotten, but patients.....never.
  3. Are there ANY good hospitals to work for in Florida???

I think LRMC is a great hospital to work for. Its located in Lakeland. Has about 800 beds and a good heart program. Lakeland is about 1/2 between Tampa and Orlando so is in a good location.

Ni way can you be incompetent after that many years nursing. It's just a different set of rules than in the hospital. Remember to treat the whole family and bring them into discussions and decisions (with the pts permission of course). Be a little...
  8. Hurting

So sorry. Please don't give up. It is very hard to get back into nursing. Some of the best nurses I worked with were 40-60 yr olds. Sub acute care can be a hectic place to start. Was it days? My friend went back to work on a medical floor nigh...
  9. Home Health vs Hospital nursing

I worked for 20 years in hospital nursing. I worked in PCU, CCU, Med/Surg, ER and also as charge nurse then manager of a unit for awhile. I then went to work part time for a home health agency, while I kept my job in the hospital. Made extra money...
