  1. Huge volumns of patients

I work in a level II trauma center that is crazy busy like yours. We usually don't have enough staff, and the wait time is ridiculous with numerous T&L's. I think this is a nationwide problem.
  2. nursing caps

In the stoneage or now? LOL jk. Uh, I would burn the cap. . .LOL
  3. Receptors, adrenergic and cholenergic

I know the nursing made easy books help, or those little pocket sized books on related topics will often have pictures to help people better understand and memorize key pts.
  4. Cutest name badge thingy.

I just wait until drug reps show up and hand them out free of charge :)
  5. What kind of Nurse do you want to be?

ER nursing is for me. A few weeks ago I was at clinical, and my pt started going downhill. . .the RN was also in the room and helped. . .after we got things under control, I asked her what do you do now. . .it was a cardiac situation. . .she told me...
  6. Financial Aid

If your EFC is 0, your tuition, books, etc should be covered and you should be getting back money that can be used toward living expenses. Depending on the school you are attending, they may offer childcare and grants that will cover childcare expen...
  7. OK lets get down and dirty...

Our lab instructor stressed to us that they are just teaching us the bare basics of nursing. As you all know, there is soooooo much to know, and it continues to grow each day. After you graduate and get that first job, you will learn even more. Th...
  8. Nursing Students... Did you take....

The program that I'm in did not require med terminology, however I took a course anyway. I found it very beneficial, and it ended up helping me when it came to the exams. I would strongly suggest taking one, unless you have hospital experience.
  9. Anyone Here Have Social Anxiety?

I can relate to how you feel. I prefer working alone, absolutely hate group projects, but I will go to others for help when needed. Lab was a little difficult, but I would seek out the help of others when needed. Most of the time I watched videos ...
  10. 12 hour shifts?

Where I work, there are 4, 8, and 12 hr shifts. I personally like 12hr shifts, or 2 8's and 2 12's are nice. I have to drive about 45min to and from work, so I like going in and working the most I am able, especially with the gas prices today!
  11. $$$$$$$ for School

I thought that if you take out stafford loans, they will go toward tuition/books/fees, then whatever is left over will be given over as a check/direct deposit to you for living expenses. I rely on loans/grants to pay for school, and always end up wi...
  12. Friend didnt get in...:(

I was in a similar situation that you are now in. All you can do is encourage her to meet the pre-reqs, and go from there. Perhaps she should check out other schools. I attend a school that seems to be fair compared to other schools in this area. ...
  13. For those that have failed

I would suggest being a CNA or even a unit clerk in a hospital. I think that working in a department where you can see the type of care that goes on will give you some insight for the future when you are the one providing the care. I feel bad that ...
  14. Nursing Students' Summer Plans

Absolutely nothing. . .how great is that!
  15. For those that wanted Drug lists.

Likewise, if you manage to find time, I would enjoy having a copy of the list. THANKS!!
