  1. Already been told I shouldn't be a nurse (Rant)

I dont understand the whole "eat your young" mentality. Nurses need to grow up and stop bringing down new, eager learners! Were all in it together!!
  2. First travel offer in LTC

Here theyre synnonymous - LTC/LTAC; its all one facility.
  3. Living in an RV. Need tax help

It is not misinformation - its what is happening. Period. Like it or not. If its done right, there is no reason at all for the IRS to get involved, and as many travelers I know (legit or not) not a one has been audited in 20 years. Everything I state...
  4. First travel offer in LTC

LOL Ive been an LTAC supervisor for the past four years, so yea, a little exposure. Our entire unit is RN operated - no LPN's at all. We have a 2 and 3 to 1 ratio. Thats every LTACH in and around Memphis.
  5. First travel offer in LTC

Im more worried by the fact that its ONE RN to TWENTY patients????
  6. Living in an RV. Need tax help

I have a fantastic tax man whos given me invaluable information - you need a primary residence (albeit apartment, own home, or rental (even if you "rent" a space from a friend)). When you travel, most of the time they "require" yor primary resident a...
  7. Waiting for a travel assignment

Im new to the travel world and Ive discovered / read that 1) you need to be registered with several agencies (the others dont need to know about each other - just take one contract at a time), 2) you cannot always limit yourself to one area or hospit...
  8. How many contracts(skills)?

I think it depends on the person and how long you've been a nurse.
  9. Come to work or get fired-Hurricane Irma!!!

They'd have to fire me. Anyone who says we deserve to be fired can cover my shift for me.
  10. advise needed

It's a violation because the name of the pt she saw, albeit co-worker, was not on her unit. It was logging her into a unit she was no longer working on AND she mentioned it to other co-workers.
  11. Is My Pay Really That Bad???

I wish we were unionized. Here you start around $21-23, raise depends on hospital and if theyre under budget restraints you won't get one, so if you want a raise you have to get a job with a different hospital. Pay tops out after 13 years at like $34...
  12. Is My Pay Really That Bad???

$27 for LPN? To me that's great. I'm in Memphis and RNs make around that with like 3-5 years exp!
  13. Is My Pay Really That Bad???

Compared to some of the others I've been reading, it is. I thought I made decent in Memphis. It's tough to make $37 here...$34 is cap for 13 years experience. Im at 36.74 but I'm also a weekender and PCC so I feel inadequate now haha
  14. Is My Pay Really That Bad???

I agree 100% that pay is #1 regional #2 based on experience. California RN's make $40-50; the same experienced RN in my region doing the exact same thing will make in the $25 range, go further east TN and its even lower, like low $20s. It all depends...
  15. Don't like nursing at all, what can I do with my BSN?

Try clinic nursing like at a primary clinic or cardiology clinic - Monday thur Friday, taking vitals, health history and answering phones.
