Question about CSMRN

I have been a nurse for 3 years. 1.5 on med/surg. A year in PCU and a few months in ER. I came back to med surg and want to get my CMSRN. My educator told me that I am qualified since I have been nursing for 3 years and for 1.5 of them have been in more critical type of nursing so I should be fine but the site specifically states 2 years of medical surgical experience. The PCU I worked on was PCU trauma/ medical surgical so I should be good right? Any information or opinion would be helpful as well as studying tips!!

You should be good but call them and ask to be sure. As far as studying goes, I would get a solid review book and do a lot of nclex adult med-surg questions and you should be fine. Give yourself about six to eight weeks of regular studying. The test is not that bad. You go it!

I'm going to say to check with AMSN. Have you completed the 2000 hours? This is from their website:

Are a registered nurse (RN) in the United States or any of its territories with a current, full, unrestricted license

Educated or licensed outside of the United States? Rollover here for more information.Hold a current, full, and unrestricted license as a first-level nurse in the country in which one's nursing education was completed, AND meet the eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the United States in accordance with the requirements of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

AND

Have practiced 2 calendar years as an RN in a medical-surgical setting.

AND

Have accrued a minimum of 2,000 hours of practice within the past three (3) years in a medical-surgical setting. Practice may include clinical, management, or education.

Thanks I just signed up for the test and I'm studying right now. Any more study tools hints? I bought a review book and one book with 300 practice study questions.
