Hello all,

I'm taking the Med-Surg certification exam in June and I really want to know if anyone has any advice for the exam that's current and up-to-date? I took a review course back in October through my employer and I earned CEU's through ANCC. The review was over three days and basically covered general body systems. We did a few questions that were much like NCLEX styled questions, should I use NCLEX books or what book do you recommend? I'm taking the exam for ANCC to be RN-BC and not the other to be CMSRN. I understand that both test are different the latter being easier. Thanks in advance.

Just an update on this post, passed the exam and now able to use RN-BC as my credentials.

Congratulations!!! :)

I don't think the latter is any less difficult, just different. A co worker who took the ANCC said there was more legality type questions, whereas the CMSRN is more clinical. This was also the opinion of a 16 week certification study group I took at a local university. The program focus their lectures on both tests.

I don't think one certification test is harder than the other either but more of a "brand" preference such as do you prefer Nike or Reebok! Both are name brands and are very comparable to buyers with still serving as a status quo!

They are different try the free review questions from each certification board to get a taste.
