what do your hospital call each "acronyms" and what elements each include?
is probasic not the same as bmp
We call a cbc a cbc or some will write it as cbc w/diff.
BMP I've seen written as SMA7 or Chem 7 and it includes your 7 basic electrolytes like glucose, sodium, potassium, cloride, BUN, creatinine, and CO2.
The CMP (chem 13) then adds AST, ALT, calcium, albumin, alkaline phosphatase and protein (I think).
Then there's the chem 20 which then adds Gamma-GT, cholesterol, uric acid, phosphorous, LDH and bilirubin.
The CBC is basically a count of the cells of each type - like RBC, WBC, Hgb, Hct, platelets, etc.....
