Was wondering if any of you MDS Coordinators out there Work from Home.

I read something on another site about this.

Have any of you Coordinators heard of this?

Do you know any Companies that are already doing this?

Are there any Companies or Coordinators planning on going this route in the near future?

I don't know how you could possibly work from home, you need to be able to interview the patients and have thier records....?

With Electronic Medical Records.....Think working from home is a Possibility.....

I suppose it might be possible for part of it with like doing care plans or writing CAAs.

I know that we have got to meet the patients, technically, in order to do the MDS, but I am quite certain I could write care plans at home with an electronic medical record, and I would not be interrupted 46 times an hour. I could do case management at the facility about 12 hrs a week, and go in once a week to close LPN assessments and transmit. However, I am now in a situation where our daily PPS mtg has to be in person, since there was big trouble last week over my not being told about missed therapy. Definitely some of my time would better be spent at home.

I work at home now, by choice, just to keep up. Don't get paid for it though. Not supposed to bring home any info. Mostly I make schedules, write careplans just using initials and fill in the names when i get to work.

When I worked at the hospital, I was able to access records from home. I don't think that it is a good idea. I wouldn't want someone pulling up my information in their home. Email is one thing, personal medical records is quite another. Who knows who is visiting, related or just plain nosey that might get access.

Does anyone have any sample scheduling forms for MDS that they would be willing to share. I have one that I use for ICF residents that I love, but not liking the SNF one. Any samples or suggestions would be great. :nurse:

I've also done work from home, unpaid. I'll bring home things to update, if possible. Some short-term resident have a multipage 'admission careplan' that I can do by hand at home, and their assessments for falls, norton, pain, abuse/neglect, elopement.

Same as everyone else, so many interruptions at work sometimes that I feel like I can't get anything done in just one sitting. There are times I don't answer the phone just so they'll leave a message and I can keep working.

Most days I get the largest amount of work done from 8am-10am, before morning meeting.

I have one that works pretty well for us. I also have a Med A schedule form if you'd like that as well.
