Nursing Jobs

U.S.A. Massachusetts

DH and I are thinking of moving to MA after I get through nursing school. Does the nursing glut apply to the rest of the state, or just the Boston area? We're interested in the Leominster/Worcester area.

Hi hidden...the glut applies to ALL of Massachusetts. I've applied to every acute hospital in MA except for the extreme western part of the state and haven't had any luck. There just isn't a lot of turnover because of the state of the economy right now, and there isn't enough money in the budget to create new positions at most hospitals.

That makes me so sad :( I guess we'll have to wait to move to Mass until after I've had some experience.

Good luck- I hope something opens up for you soon!

I'm sorry hiddencat. The economy is horrible here right now. UMass in Worcester is on a hiring freeze, St V's/Worcester Medical Center hasn't had a new position in AGES..the only two hospitals that would be worth checking out are Milford Hospital and Marlborough Hospital (though the latter hospital is a community partner of UMass so I don't know if the freeze applies there too)...if you can secure a position way ahead of time maybe your dream can still come true. Before you totally count out MA try calling Milford Hospital's HR/nurse recruitment department. It's a small commute but it's something.
