Hi,
Years ago I met with the director of this program and really loved it. Over the past 2+ years I've been doing the prereqs and volunteering at a hospital. It began to go to the backburner because I felt an accel BSN would be a better choice. Well now that I am ready to apply I can't get this program out of my head as being the top choice. SO I'm aiming on the GRE's for Sept to apply for their deadline. Just wanted to see if any students could provide some input on their experience there, and post graduation. I had a NP a few years ago at Harvard Vanguard in Copley who was a graduate and said such great things. I also can see that only Northeastern students get these intern positions at MGH (I'm sure there are internships open to all as well, but I see just Northeastern ones- I'm an employee at Partners). This makes me think they have an advantage... anywho, any feedback would be sooo greatly appreciated!!:redbeathe
Thanks!
I did the application so long ago I actually thought I did explicitly choose a track- you're right in thinking there wasn't a place to do that.
Like silvrdove though I also wrote a lot about the specialty I have in mind.
Now I wonder if my interviewer is coincidentally in my field of interest or if it was at least in part based on my essay. From the bit of research I've done (of course I had to look into it right away) we seem to have a fair amount in common.
Where did you all choose a sub-specialty on the application? Did I miss that part? I just re-checked my application and I didn't see that anywhere and it says my application is complete. Or are you just expecting to do that sub-specialty?
The Program Director just mentioned in the information session that we should specify in our essays which track we wanted. I also didn't really discuss which track (I applied before attending the information session!)
Sure,
3.51 undergrad GPA, 3.9 (I think?) prereqs
Major in International Relations and Community Health
600V 640Q 5.5AW
Study/worked in China and South Africa- traditional medicine, public health, and care of orphaned and vulnerable children, etc
Currently a clinical research coordinator in the emergency department of a children's hospital- lots of direct work with patients/families and medical teams but not clinical care, though I do get to do some neurocognitive testing with some of the kids
I also do some disaster relief work with the Red Cross
Hope that helps somehow, good luck!
