Hey everyone!

Does anyone have any info on MGH starting up its new grad residency program again? Someone in my cohort mentioned today that they are but no info on timeframe or anything online as yet. I emailed the name on the website but wondered if anyone here knew anything. :-)

ETA -- just found the OR one on their job listings... Wonder if thats the only one they're doing? Also ~$13/hr, it looks like..? My friend said it was going up to $20 :p

MGH eCare Nurse Residency Program

Massachusetts General Hospital is offering a temporary paid and benefitted Nurse Residency Program for entry-level registered nurses to begin in September 2015.

Nurse residents will participate in a one-of-a-kind educational program designed to create an opportunity for the entry-level registered nurse to earn relevant clinical experience within an academic medical center focusing on role assimilation, professional skills development, career marketability, and potential long-term/permanent employment as an MGH staff nurse. Positions available for most inpatient settings including but not limited to medical, surgical, emergency department and intensive care units.

Qualified applicants MUST:

• have a Baccalaureate of Science degree in Nursing*

• possess a current MA RN license by mid August, 2015

• be available to begin employment on September 8, 2015

Nurse Residents will be provided with a general orientation to the MGH and role-specific orientation under the supervision of experienced preceptors and unit-based Clinical Nurse Specialists before beginning the clerkship portion of the program. During the clerkship portion, Nurse Residents will function as staff nurses with ongoing support, mentoring and coaching of unit-based leadership and other experienced resources. Goals include, but are not limited to:

• the correct application of patient care technology

• the correct use of bedside equipment

• patient assessment

• care planning through with rationales articulated

• effective team communication

• safe delivery of medications

• effective family relationships

• appropriate priority setting, organization and goal setting for the shift

Nurse Residents will be eligible for benefits and paid at a rate of $12.38 per hour. The schedule will be 40 hours per week on a day/night rotation with weekends and holidays required.

Upon successful completion of this temporary benefitted Nurse Residency Program opportunities may exist to transition to a Staff RN role.

*If currently employed by MGH, Associates degree in Nursing considered
