MGH Direct Entry MSN 2013

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Hey everyone, the application for was due yesterday, whew! I almost forgot about it.

Did anyone else apply? When can we expect to hear back?

Good question mualam, I would like to know that as well. I would join the Facebook group!

I would join the facebook group too!

What other schools were you all considering?

UPENN if I get in... I'm for pediatric. Any suggestions or ideas on the main differences?? MGH is offering me $72,000.

wow that's awesome! i am in for pediatrics! has everyone gotten scholarship offers already?

I'm mostly torn between MGH and Umass W. Honestly I'm not understanding the whole credentialing thing. I've tried to find other forums, but there's no straight forward answer. Also a little confused about the importance of being granted a BSN or certificate RN once the NP boards are passed. Doesn't the MS trump the bsn or certificate anyway?? Anyways, these are the issues complicating my decision... any input?

I'm in for dual women's health/adult-gero (surely there is an abbreviation for that because I'm going to get sick of saying/typing it!) and I got a separate e-mail with my scholarship information. I'm so excited! I hope everyone gets good news!

@steve. So happy for you man. Was bummed when you posted about Regis. Congrats!!!

Are you definitely attending?

That MGHIHP grants you a BSN as well as an MSN, is a good, and rare thing. Don't ask me why, but there are some institutions which require you to have a BSN even if you have an MSN.

Not sure if I'm attending yet - I also applied to Simmons so I'm waiting to hear back from them before I put down my deposit. MGH is my first choice because it still offers tracks and it gives you a BSN as well as the MSN, but if the financial situation is significantly better at Simmons I might change my mind... We have until March 1st to accept the MGH offer so there's nothing wrong with taking a little time over the decision!

tadams - Congrats on the scholarship, that is fantastic! That would probably tip the scales for me, though I have to say that I have a graduate degree from UPenn and I loved the school - it is an amazing place, and their nursing school is fantastic. It would be a hard decision for me (I need to stay in Boston though and didn't apply there for nursing school, however). Good luck!
