U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

hi all,

I was recently accepted to Curry's accel program starting in January 2014. Was hoping to connect with classmates! I'd love to hear how folks are planning to get to school - I don't have a car at the moment and live in Jamaica Plain. yikes!

I'm psyched and can't wait to start and meet you all!

Lauren

Hi, Lauren -

I've also been accepted to the new Curry ACCEL BSN cohort - it's nice to meet one of my future classmates! I live just south of Milton, and will be getting there by car.

Have you sent your deposit in yet? I'm trying to get more info on the immunization and CPR requirements. I hope to hear something at the Financial Aid workshop on May 22.

I haven't sent in the deposit yet, but I plan to soon, I guess. I am also hoping to get lots of answers at the fin aid workshop - I have an appointment at 6pm - will you be around? I'm so excited to meet our cohort!!!

L.

Unfortunately, the appointments are individual. I was hoping to meet the whole group, but I guess that part will come eventually :). I might still be around at 6, though :)

I was seriously a little disappointed to - I was hoping for a whole little group talk and then the individual meetings!! that said, I am pretty grateful for the chance to talk to finaid about how to pay for this business!!!

Another future classmate - yay! I'm taking A&P I this summer, and A&P II in the fall. I only was missing the labs for these classes, but I've decided to take whole courses, just to brush up on the content.

Statistics is an easy course to take online. I personally loved it when I took it many years ago as part of my B.S. degree.

Whatever you do, though, for Human Growth and Development, don't take it online at MassBay. The class was super hard, with pages and pages of papers required every. single. week. I got an A in it, but it took all I had. Granted, I was taking microbiology at the same time, and worked full-time too. But I don't recommend it, if you can't tell yet :)

Good luck to us all this summer!

Hooray indeed! I still need to take chemistry, which I am going to do at Roxbury Community college this fall.

hope to run into you both tomorrow before or after fin aid meetings!

Lauren

Hey guys - I was also accepted & can't wait to meet you all!

Have any of you spoken to a finaid advisor? I saw students from past years mentioned a $12,500 per semester Stafford loan that is offered to every student - I hope this is still the case?! I received my financial aid award and it only included a Perkins loan so that made me nervous (I called them today but they are closed for a campus retreat)

Also, sarah33 - if you have not yet signed up for a growth & development course, I took mine through Louisiana State University distance learning and recommend it! Seems random but the reason I chose it is because you can complete the course at your own schedule, there are no weekly deadlines or anything. And it was really cheap, I think like $400-$500!

MikeM118 - I did speak to a finaid person at the workshop they held for us last wednesday. I was awarded that stafford loan, but it wasn't per semester, but per school year. I have to admit that I was a little shell shocked trying to figure out how I'd pay for it all after meeting with them, and that my little meeting wasn't super helpful besides getting some real hard numbers to crunch and figure out. I'm planning to work part time (15-20 hours a week?) and take out the max private loans possible, on top of the stafford. :(

getting excited to meet my cohort!!! !! !!!
