Hello, I'm entering my second semester tomorrow for BCCs nursing program. If you have any questions let me know. There is also a thread from last year that basically started like this and it has a lot of good information.

I applied for the LPN to RN bridge program and am waiting to hear if I got in. I would start the fall of 2012 but in the 2nd year of the program and do a 3 week bridge program in August before starting in Sept.

Good luck to you!

there was a girl in my micro class who did the lpn to rn transfer, well two...one was in her second year and did the program like you will have to and the other was about to start her first year second semester because she had been an lpn for longer.

I wish I knew someone who had already done it just to find out what the summer bridge program is all about. I am starting micro tomorrow, and I am doing CSS101 online this semester too, then I'm finally done with all the classes except for nursing. Good luck to you!!! Do you have any classes left to take?

Who are you taking for micro? I had Dr. * and despite what you might have heard about him, he wasnt that bad as long as you studied the powerpoints he gave and listened during lecture. The girl in my micro class had said that the summer bridge was very intense and that of all the lpns that had gotten through it, by the last day to drop classes quite a few of them had dropped. I just took CSS this past month, i did the condensed course just to get it over with. I have all of my classes done, im just taking a sociology class now with hopes of transfering it later on.

I have Prof. * for micro, she's supposed to be really good. I ended up getting a letter from BCC yesterday and apparently my math from 20 years ago they aren't accepting because I got a C and it has to be a B- so now I don't think they will consider me for this year, I wish I had known that sooner I would of done it last semester. I think I may look into excelsior, I really don't want to wait another year now. That's good that you are taking socio. now take as many as you can, that way if you go on for your BSN you'll have less classes to take. Good luck!!!

was it a high school math? I was nervous about my high school chem and I had to go see an advisor about it and they said that I would be ok. Thats terrible, im so sorry to hear that :sniff:. I have never heard of excelsior but at least you have a back-up because i dont lol

No it wasn't a high school one, I had algebra in HS and did good. This one was at BCC, modern college mathematics. The weird thing is for the regular nursing program it isn't one of the ones listed that you have to get a B- or higher in, but for the lpn - rn bridge program you have to get a b- or higher, that makes no sense to me. They should both have the same requirements. I'm sure you'll be fine with your HS math if your advisor said so, good luck!!!!

Last year we got our letters around late March/ early April (it's hard to remember). But I found out a few weeks early because they changed my major from general studies to nursing in degree works (which is under access bcc). They may have caught on by now, but it will be worth checking out.
