Bipolar and entering local lpn program

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi all,

This is my first post. I have been accepted to an LPN program locally for fall 2009. I am an "older" student who ironically has my youngest in RN nursing program at BC.

My issue is I am bipolar and worried that my packet from the school mentions a drug test. I currently take and have been taking the same meds for at least 4-5 years. They include lithium, seroquel, ativan and an antidepressant. My doctor monitors me monthly for these medications and I have had general stability for the the 4-5 years. I funtion normally daily and do not have any other medical problems. I also would like to know how much of this will be an issue with my actually being able to get my license. Is being on psychiatric medication a problem. I have been trying to search the State of MA information but can't seem to get the answers I need. If anyone has useful information I would appreciate feedback.

Thanks in advance,

gemma
