Montogmery College Nursing Professors

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Just wanted some advice on choosing my professors for the first semester of nursing classes at Montgomery College in Maryland.

Have you looked at ratemyprofessor.com?

All professors will end up teaching lectures, so the student won't have only 1 dedicated professor. During clinical you will have 1 clinical instructor, all the Instructors are extremely knowledgeable, whichever one you end up getting as clinical faculty will be sure to help you in your very first semester. Trust me & good luck!! ;)

should uniforms be worn to lectures as well. i'm not clear on this. i am having a hard time fitting the white swan pants that they recommended, serial number 5200.

No you can wear your normal clothing to lectures, however make sure that on days you have on campus lab or will be practicing in the lab to have your lab coat because otherwise you won't be able to be in the lab without it. Your uniform is only worn on clinical days when you are in the hospital unless otherwise noted by your instructor. I am a nursing graduate from the program and I did hate those swan pants but I made them work :D By the way: it is an excellent program! I just took my nursing boards and I feel like they prepared me well. If you have any questions during your first semester feel free to contact me

how does the lottery system work for clinical. i live in howard county and montgomery general hospital is the closest hospital to my home. i'm happy you speak so highly of the program. i have heard pretty good stuff. my aunt and a couple friends graduated from the program and are currently doing well. hope you passed that exam on the first try.

question: what can i expect for the first semester? i'm enrolled in the NU121 summer session, thought i'd get it out of the way before the fall semester.

The lottery works like this: you are usually assigned a random number and based on that number you sign up for clinical. Make sure when looking at the clinical sites you choose at least 2-3 sites because getting your first choice is not always guaranteed due to the random lottery pickings. I think it's great that you are doing NU121 summer session, it's a great class where you will learn how to do assessments from head to toe :yeah: it's good to get it out of the way so you can focus on your fundamentals of nursing course and NU105. Expect to learn alot, and try your best not to get too overwhelmed (easier said then done right?) but it is dooable! I am living proof of that. I suggest you buy a planner and organize due dates, clinical dates, exam dates, etc..so you can keep yourself in line and not get too bogged down. I highly suggest you go to your nearest bookstore (I went to barnes and noble) and buy a "nursing spark chart" they only cost like $5.00 and believe me it's worth much more, I still use mines and will take into practice ( it sums up important assessments and you can have it with you on your clipboard during clinicals--it really is gem to have!).
