Here is our new thread ladies (Nikki, Andrea, Kristian, Marissa...and whoever else will be starting at MC this fall).

Thanks for the shoe info Kristian. Problem is, ever since I had kids, I need a wide size now. My feet changed 1 size in width and 1-1.5 in length during my pregnancies. It sucks finding shoes now.

I now have a droid smart phone on the recommendation of friends but I gotta tell ya. I really liked my iphone better. Problem with that was that the internet was so darn slow and coverage with AT&T stunk. Not sure if it is any better through Verizon now. The iphone is much more user friendly, the apps are better, the email platform is nicer, etc. But that is just my opinion.

Only thing about using a smart phone: will the hospital that we do our clinicals in allow us to carry a cell phone over a PDA? I know that cell phones are restricted in many parts of hospitals...however, my husband was saying we may be able to turn our phones onto "Airplane Mode" so that there are no signals being transmitted that could interfere with any medical equipment. Do you think they would allow us to do that if they know we use the phone as a PDA also?

I've had an IPhone before Nikki and while I did like the phone itself, the service was very spotty and the plan prices are soooo expensive. Now I have a lower-class Android and it works great but the storage space is about small as they come. My husband has the HTC EVO which he swears by. It has better apps than the IPhone, is 4G so it's very fast, and he never drops a call (amazing even though it's Sprint!). It comes with 8GB but he got a 16GB memory card because he downloads alot of files for work onto his phone so that when he's in meetings and whatnot, everything is at his fingertips in an instant. I may go ahead and splurge for the 32GB since I'll be downloading whole books from what I've heard. I'm due for an upgrade anyway so I can get an EVO right now for $150...I'm thinking I'm gonna go ahead and get it; unless I hear something that makes me wanna opt for the PDA instead. Maybe I should wait til orientation and ask them what they prefer/recommend??

That is a good question. I'm not sure. I would hold of on purchasing anything until orientation where I am sure they can answer all your questions. I'm not buying a PDA unless it comes highly recommended during orientation. This is going to cost us enough money as it is that I don't want to spend where I don't need to.

True! I hate that we can't start preparing ourselves for classes because we don't even know what to get! Uggghh!!! Oh well...only 2 weeks left til Orientation...

You're welcome Nikki.

It didn't realize just how many diff. things we would need to get done/purchase. I have 6 or so pairs of sneakers but none fit the criteria. That sucks.

You two bring up a good point about cell phones. Hospital policy may require it to be stored away. We have Verizon and my hubby has the unlimited data plan for $29.99. He hasn't had any issues.

Do you two have a watch w/ a second hand?

No I don't. I was actually just looking at watches on-line. I want one that's:

1) Water-proof

2) Lights up/Glows

3) Has military time and a second hand

4) Has a comfortable wrist band

This has not been that easy to find. I went on Amazon and found one that had great reviews and everything I wanted, except that it was a lapel watch which I don't want. But then I found this one; I don't like that it's white and it only has 1 review, but at least it's a good one:

I've been looking at watches all over the place. The watch on Amazon, is the band silicon?

I really like the Wenger watches. I put in an offer on Ebay for a model that I prefer.

stainless steel

second hand

luminous hands and dots

standard and military time

The seller accepted my offer!

WOW!!! That's great! The watch looks awesome! I may have to steal your idea and look for another one on-line ;) Lol

Hey, no problem! I thought I can also use it as an everyday watch and for diving. I could spend hrs looking at this stuff...

YES! I also wanted to find something I could wear everyday. I swim also, so this could work for that as well! I too could spend hours looking at this stuff all day! Luckily my son needs me to do things like fix his lunch, take him out to play, etc. so I'm forced to spend at least a little time off this laptop! Lol
