Johns Hopkins Hospital UAP/RN offer

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I recently graduated with my ADN and I was trying to get into JHH RN Residency program. However, an HR person contacted me and asked if I would be interested in a UAP/RN position to "get my foot in the door" so to speak. Has anyone heard of this before? ....or done this?

You have a Wilmer OR Interview? :) Me too!

I would love to interview for CSICU because I have a passion for cardiology.

Thanks for insight into the UAP/RN.

In the Nurse Clinican programs, they have different types programs depending on the unit. The Wilmer OR is 12 months and the beginning is classroom time.

This may seem like a silly question, but how did you apply for an UAP/RN position? Was it specifically posted like this, or did you apply for a regular tech position? T.I.A!

Really? Oh wow! Well I'm wishing you the best of luck!!! Yes, I loved cardiac in school and am so excited to be getting to interview for that.

Not silly at all, it can be so confusing. Well, like a dork I kept applyling for positions that were not entry-level. So, they finally emailed me and basically said look, you can't apply for those without experience, but you are eligible for a uap/rn position. I don't think these positions are ever posted. I would call the recruiter or email them. There is a spot on their website where you can contact a recruiter.

Awesome! Thanks so much for the reply, what great info to have. Best of luck to yoU! :heartbeat

I applied for several jobs and within less than a week I was contacted by HR; informing me about the UAP/RN position. Good news about the UAP/RN positions is that they typically run around 18.35/hr with shift differentials--I did graduate with a BSN so I'm not sure about AD in comparison.

Whenever you go in for your interview definitely talk to the nurse recruiters about what units you're specifically interested in too, because in case something comes up on one of the units and the Nurse Manager has to cancel you show interest for a specific position. If I'm correct my recruiter told me that they'll give you three chances of obtaining a UAP/RN position on various units.

Is anyone starting orientation in October?

Congrats Ladies on the Interview

I have an interview on 10/26 in Peds. Does anyone know how fast the turn around is?? Want to start work before the holidays!!

We have interviews with JHH:yeah:

So I thought i'd update! I called the recruiters office directly, and surprisingly got right through to someone. She told me to go ahead and apply for a Clinical Tech position. I did, and received an email back in like 10 minutes regarding being eligible for an UAP/RN position. I immediately replied with the requested info-my interests and 4 dates I would be available for an interview...woohoo!! Thanks OP!

Now, I haven't heard back in a few days; I hope that means they are coordinating interviews/share days or whatever? What do you guys think? What has been your experience on the turnaround time

Yay!:yeah: Very happy for you ;)

Hi, has anyone transitioned from UAP/RN yet? What was the process?

Thanks in advance!

I heard transitioning can be as soon as 6weeks or as far as 9months (hopefully mine wont be that long!lol).

Yes, I was told that by the NR as well. When I spoke with the unit manager, she told me she has a desire to hire RN/UAP but doesnt have a position open for an RN but that could change based on someone taking maternity leave. I really like the unit :))
