Is anyone familiar with Montgomery College Nursing program. I have been accepted for the fall semester and just trying to get as much information as possible. Tryingto make probably the most difficult time in my life less difficult. I heard nursing school is very challenging and I want to do well like everyone else. So I think this board is a start for me. Trying to get as much info as possible. So can anyone lend a helping hand with this. Any knowledge is better than no knowledge thanks.

Congrats! I am starting this fall also at Montgomery. I did basic skills in the July 21st class and loved every minute of it. We talked about getting some sort of communication started between the other students, this may be perfect. I am in contact with a few of the students, let me see if I can get them interested too. Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else!

Well that's cool. I start this fall also I am interested in the group thing. Since this is a whole new experience for me I want to make sure I get the whole experience and make it as easy as possible. So which classes did u pick. I picked Monday morning n a tues class n I go to clinicals on thurs and fri. What kind of communication are you trying to get started is it a group thing. Well let me know and if you want we can exchange numbers before school start and did you get your text books yet

Hey...just got your message and I saw a reference to Alabama. I may have jumped the gun here. Are you in the program at Lonestar Montgomery in the Woodlands, TX? That is where I am at.

I'm waiting to hear about Spring admission. I would love to know more about how classes and clinicals work. Looking at the class schedule is no help since it doesn't give much information about times. Can someone enlighten me?

Im waiting on Spring admission too!

...November is such a long wait

Lsnow: Are you taking classes this fall or have you finished all the pre-req?

I will be taking courses this fall but I have finished all of the pre-reqs...what about you?

I took a chance and applied without having taken A&P, which I'll be taking this Fall (both I and II - yes, I'm masochistic). I know they say that they won't look at apps unless you've finished however, I took A&P many many moons ago and did well. However, even though they don't specifically say that courses need to have been taken within the last X years, I think without those current grades I'm not as competitive as other applicants. I included a cover letter basically saying "please look at my entire history, grades and experience" but I don't know if that will change matters. I guess we'll find out if I don't get accepted for Spring. If I don't, I'll reapply for Fall and by then all my pre-req will be done. The wait until October/November will be verrry long!

2nd Life - are you referring to the Montgomery College in Maryland? I know there is one in like two other states as well so I wanted to be sure. I had that same question. They say to take BI204 and BI205 but I wondered if they had to be completed with a grade or if you could be enrolled in them when you apply. I would like to apply for fall of 2010 but I don't think that is going to happen because I won't have completed these two courses before the fall application deadline. Unlike you, I never took A&P.

They say that the in order to be competitive, you have to have completed the courses before applying. I already tried that once and didn't get accepted. But I also didn't realize I needed to take the TEAS test. I seriously doubt they will accept me because I'm sure they have an abundance of qualified students who have taken BI204 and BI205 already. Without grades for those classes, you're an unknown entity and their statistics show that people who have done well in A&P will do well in nursing school. In any case, since I already have my BS, if I have to wait until Fall 2010, I'd prefer the CNL program at UMB if I'm accepted to it.

Hi. I am about to graduate from Montgomery College nursing program in December. You will love it!! Well, that is only if you put school first, have a great support network, and give it 110%. It is a very demanding program, but I have nothing bad to say about the program. It is fast paced and never any time to get behind. It can be very stressful, but there are so many resources available to you for help. The instructors are awesome and as long as you respect them, they will respect you and will always be willing to help you. Another great thing the program does is they will assign you a mentor when you begin the program. I have been a mentor the entire time I have been in the program(after first semester) and I also have a mentor that still helps me. If you have any questions please feel free to send me a message. I know it can be very overwhelming. Good luck!
