Quick interview question... Please give your opinion..

Hey guys, Im a 26 year old married male from GA and I have my interview for the nursing program on Monday. The gave interviews for the top 72 and they are taking 55, so there is a good chance at least. My question is, I have a goatee, should I shave it off for the interview, or leave it? I worked as a firefighter/EMT-I and when I went for the interview I had heard that they liked their applicants to be clean shaven. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

JMO, but ANYTHING which would give them an excuse to reject you that can so easily be eliminated and regrown is a no-brainer! When things are as competitive as slots in a nursing program and the interviewers have a hard time when they whittle down the last few, they could be grabbing for anything to help their decision. Clean shaven, fresh haircut, suit w/a professional tie, SUBTLE cologne, polished shoes, warm smile, firm (but not crushing) handshake - it all adds up! Good luck!

Clean shaven is the way to go if you want to remove any chances for discrimination. Tell them what they want to hear, look like what they want a male nurse to look like, act the way they want you to act. Safest bet.

Yeah, you guys are probably right. Thats what I was thinking, but then my wife kept telling me not to worry about it. But better safe than sorry.

I agree with everyone except no cologne. That beard will grow back.

Don't chew gum, make sure your cell phone is off completely (not vibrate only), and be polite and cordial. The main thing is to impress on them how important this is to you and that nothing is going to interfere with that goal. Good luck!!

Shave it. Why risk it?
