We still need to bath male patients and clean their privates?

Just asking. I think male shouldn't be doing that since we have to lift a lot.. I am sure they will make us lift a lot.

Sorry, but you gotta do that too :)

The day will come when your back is so sore from lifting so many people that you cherish the task of wiping. :w00t:

My nickname when I was an aide was "Forklift" and even when I am an RN I don't see that changing anytime soon. As for doing hygiene care and such, I always took a small amount of satisfaction that was one of the things I could do that had a direct, and timely effect on the patients health and comfort.

Specializes in Emergency/Cath Lab.

Grow up. Sheesh.

Let me answer your questions with another question..

Would that mean the female CNA's shouldn't have to wash up female residents and provide peri-care..because whether you know this or not, female CNA's do their fair share of lifting too.

"Just asking. I think male shouldn't be doing that since we have to lift a lot.. I am sure they will make us lift a lot"

you are SURE they make you lift a lot? My facility expects the exact same from male and female CNA's. We don't make men lift any more or any less than we expect from the women. (the only thing I ask of my male CNA's is help with reaching things that are too high for me to get..and I only ask the guys because two of them are over 6 feet tall, and the shelf I need help with is too high for the tallest of my female CNA's)

wellstar just implemented a new plan that forbids male employees from being alone with a female patient. (room, elevator, bathroom, ultrasound, ekg, etc) any time a man has to perform a procedure on a female pt, he has to have another wellstar employee present. (can't be a family member or volunteer staff)

Specializes in being a Credible Source.

Two thoughts:

1) Bath (sic) male patients... You seem to be insinuating that it would be OK for a guy to bathe and wipe a female patient but just another male. Are you for real?

2) Beavis and ...

That's why I want to become a nurse because they need male nurses to do the lifting. However, I thought two female is needed to lift one person whereas one male is needed to lift one person, correct? What ever happen, happens. I will do anything, I just to make patients happy.

Well, thanks all.. That's alright. Nursing assistant is not my major. I just want to be prepare for BSN.. then to NP.

Also, I am doing this because I want to help people and is rewarding.

I think you need to reconsider becoming a nurse, you appear to have a very warped sense of what nurses (who happen to be male) do.

That's not the only reason. I meant that I don't mind doing the lifting continuously. I actually want to become a nurse because I want to help people- I don't mind wiping their... etc.- I know the fact that I will be doing that.

And many more things. I am a nice person who cares about people. I wanted to become a nutrition ,but I saw nurse can do that too. Sorry for the mistake on my post.I am fully interested in nursing.

Next time I will be careful when writing.. I do this often ( I think. ) HE he
