Hello, all! I'm about to begin nursing school and am a bit concerned about potential problems related to my being 81" tall. Any taller nurses out there dealing with this situation (bumping into overhead monitors, equipment, etc.)?

6'1" or 6'2"...my sisters are that tall...I'm 6'9" or 81 inches, as well. Been a nurse for 2 years, bend at the knees, use your legs to lift. Drop your head at doorways, watch out for "pretty" decor lighting that some 5 foot person set up, find someone to make your scrubs, and Raise the bed to the highest setting...just remember to lower it before leaving the room. You'll be fine.

I've found that being tall makes the obstetric rotation really challenging. by the end of 10 or 12 hours bending over and having your knees sagging so you can push babies around is very rough on the back. Other than the i'm designed for a 5'4" (64") baby carts, nothing's been terribly rough about being tall.
