i am a male yes, but i dont see it as a factor really, i do, but i dont see it as a factore towards what i can achieve/ do, even though im about to enter a school where most likely be the only male there, and im still cool with that.

i am in fact anxious, very nervous, and EXTREMELY excited to start my CNA course,

i just have a few worries,

will i get singled out? and if so how do i fix that/make it fun?

do male nurses get more respect? or get less respect than a female nurse? (does it matter?)

and above all, is it true that you can get a grant to go to school for your LPN ? because of me being a male?

im extremely excited to start my course and i CANNOT wait till my first day on the floor, im just super overwhelmed with the "what if's" and obviously probably worrying about how to be successfull in this course and with this career choice im taking.

thanks for any answers in advance guys :)

When I started my CNA class there were about 5 or 6 males. 3 of us finished. It is a little weird but just be yourself and bonds will form. some girls start their own little cliques or whatever. I was never involved with that. I was just nice to everyone.

I work with male and female nurses and I think the reason male nurses might get more respect is the fact they have to strive harder in a female dominant field. You need to have great people skills, and be respectful, courteous, firm, strong(emotionally & physically), sympathetic, ect.. and be able to give the same care that most women have naturally. But It really doesn't matter, you will know how to tell the good nurses from the bad. both male and female.

LPN school can get paid for by scholarships or grants. Not solely based on being male though. They take more into consideration. Race,Gender, income, dependents, age, employment, and such.

I am meeting with a financial assistance lady today. I'll tell ya how it goes.

The best advice I can give you is to stay calm and don't freak out. always ask questions if you don't know!:twocents:
