U.S.A. Maine

Published

Good morning!

We're in the moving -in stage..boxes and boxes..but I'm getting itchy to get back to work. I'm a little confused about the CEU regulations in this state.

Presently I'm working with Augusta to get my lisence turned into a Maine one but its a bit of a struggle. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions on where to work (and where not to) around the the Brunswick area?

Also one last one..I have an interview with a private MD office but I haven't a clue what is the usual hourly $ for a 30 year practicing RN with a BSN, I wo't need benefits from him. Keep me honest here, you all. ( had to throuw in the you all for one last time for the heck of it)

kris

anyone available to help the ex-ky rn?

Hi,

WELCOME to MAINE ! The Way Life Should BE !!:welcome:

Let me see if I can help a little. Salaries vary quite a bit as you know. Dr's offices are at the very low end of the scale here because those jobs can be staffed by LPN's, Med Asst's, etc. BUT a lot depends on how far you want to commute. You are 35 minutes from Portland and Lewiston (40 minutes from Augusta)so there is a lot you can commute to. There is also a lot of home health jobs in your reach.

What field do you want to work in or have the most experience in? Have you tried the website www.jobsinme.com ? That's where most nursing jobs are advertised in Maine. That website will give you some salary ranges also. If you have all that experience, don't waste it.... look under 'instructors' There is also the www.mainetoday.com website which represents the major newspapers in Southern Maine (but NOT the Brunswick Times Record unfortunately) If you are interested in Home Health or Teaching LPN's I could help maybe. hello kris_cross,

hope you have you settled in. have you obained a ME license & a place to work?

Maine does not require CEU's...some employers do based on where you're at on their clinical ladder

i have been to midcoast hospital in brunswick as a visitor when my hubby & father in law were there as patients (both cardiac issues). i was very pleased with the standard of care they received. also, midcoast is a brand new facillity. parkview seems to have happy employees but had alot of negetive media over the summer...unsure of the details but a bunch of docs all quit at the same time...i think OB docs...don't quote me.

i'd be happy to share my hourly wage and other details with you in a private message.

i have worked in only one facillity (a rural hos.) since i graduated in 2001. i am satisfied with my wage but some vetern rn's are discouraged. rural hosp. nursing wages are alot less then in urban/metro areas. there is something to be said for rural nursing. in comparison, the acuity level is less at rural facillities, i care for a broad spectrum of patients (i've had a 39weaker c r/o PE, comfort care 89y/o, and a 6y/o appey, LTC status patient, and an ortho post op d 2 all in the same night!). i love the variety.

good luck
