George Brown RPN to BScN

Hey guys,

I got accepted into the George Brown (Toronto, Ontario) RPN to BScN program for this September. I know they just provide 1 bridging year, and then you have to apply to Trent U's BScN program for the remaining year. I was just curious if anyone could share their experiences in this program and how the process was applying to Trent after completing the 1 year at George Brown.

Hey, sorry I am not able to answer your question. But I have a question for you about bridging! I am a student who has will be graduating in December and will end with a 3.0 gpa, unfortunately with a fail class. Is there any ways I can bridge to one of these schools?

In december from centennial but they said I cant join there rpn program cause i needed a 3.0 with no failed courses

Yeah they bridging courses tend to be more competitive - if you did fail a course (especially if it is a nursing one) I would take the year to make up the class, which will also bring up your average. I know most of the bridging programs you need a 70-75% average minimum. I graduated from Mohawk in December and I know a few people in my class went back and re-did a few courses from 4th semester - however, in our program if you failed a course you had to stay back anyways.

In my program they dont allow us to retake courses which we already passed even to upgrade our gpa

If you failed a class I would advice you take the year now to re-take that class. I don't want to come across as being rude or anything, but it is a competitive program and if you have failed a class you will more than likely not get in. Re-take the class you failed then apply for your best chances at getting in.

Students are required to re-take a failed class, after they pass the class, the failed class remains a part of the overall GPA.

I also read your other thread and since it was patho that you failed, you will be required to take it again to even be considered for a spot in an RN bridge program.

I took it again and passed it with a c plus, but for Centennial they said that they dont accept people into the bridging who failed a course

I'm pretty sure they do at other schools - as long as you have at least all 70's in your nursing courses and you'll need around an 80 average to get in. I haven't heard of schools not allowing you to bridge because you retook a course. Check other bridging schools such as Mohawk-McMaster, Conestoga, George Brown, Nipissing etc. and see what they have as requirements.

Hiii! What was your average getting in? Just finished my second semester with a 3.7 GPA. Hoping to get into the bridging program next year.
