Galen online LPN to RN in St. Petersburg, FL

I recently got accepted into Galen Online LPN to RN program for the April 15,2013 class I would really like to meet some of my classmates and potentially a study buddy.

Specializes in NICU( RN), Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Three times a week? What for? I have all the prereqs done so I probably won't have to take as many classes. Hopefully I won't have to be up there that much.

It's probably due to Mental and childbearing.... I would be weary of Galen if they only wanted us to come to lab once a week. I guess 2 days a week and a possible 1 extra day if needed to review skills?

What quarter do we take Pathophysiology? I do not see that subject anywhere on the class list. TIA!

Oh really? That's what I had figured. I was told that the fourth quarter was really hard because of Micro. Thankfully Galen accepted my Micro class so I will only have Mental and Childbearing. It will be so much better for you since you don't have to take micro! That's how it was for me. Micro has a lab and so does mother/baby which is why those students will be on campus more. There are also 7 clinical days in quarter 4.

Warning: my first bad experience with Galen but it's a huge one for me! I go to schedule my LAST quarter this week and there are NO weekend clinical spots offered for the online students. This is what we were promised since the program is geared towards working students. I am livid and so far no one is helping me. There is not even an option at all to "choose" anything - instead we all get automatically scheduled for Fridays at Manatee which is all the way in Bradenton, FL.

This is not an option for me since I am the only nurse at my job on Fridays! Even if I did another week day that means I cut my pay by a whole day at work which is not easy to do.

If you're considering Galen for the online bridge program do not listen to the guarantee that you will only have to attend campus or clinicals on weekends or after 5pm Monday-Friday.

That sucks! I am sorry you are going through this. I guess since my LVN program told me that nothing is guaranteed, ami kind of kept that mind frame. Is the last quarter a preceptorship? If so, are you able to find your own? I hope things work out for you.

Nope - they no longer offer the preceptorship. You go to the same clinical site that you went to for NUR265 with the same instructor.

I did my LPN at PTEC so I believed Galen when they told me the hours of the program.

I am taking Wednesdays off of work and going up to Bayonet Point hospital in New Port Richey, FL. I'm not happy about the cut in my hours at work but at least I don't have to try to get Fridays off. Having weekends free to study and have family time will be nice too. I'm trying to look on the bright side.
