Carrington Sacramento LVN-RN Bridge Program

Students LPN-RN

Hello, I was wondering if there was anyone that is considering; enrolled in; or applying to the Carrington's LVN-RN program in Sacramento. Currently, I have finished my LVN program in Oct 2016 and still awaiting for my papers to take the NCLEX. I plan on going straight into the RN program without any LVN experience as the representative mentioned all I needed to do was apply as a working LVN which wouldn't be a problem. I would like to enroll into a RN program and obtain my BSN online so I can gather experience. I am applying to the program in September 2017 but I am unsure if I have all my pre-reqs for the bridge program. I talked to a representative and they mentioned that they have a committee that approves or disapproves your pre reqs which I have taken at local community colleges. I am worried that when it comes down to turn my application that they will not approve some classes. I cannot opt to take a specific class within their pre-reqs as my representative mentioned because there is not tuition for a specific class but rather for all the pre-reqs. If anyone has knowledge of this program please reply thanks

Moved to the LVN to RN forum.

i graduated from their LVN program as well and chose not to carry on with them because of the issue with pre reqs. I have completed all courses listed at an out of state community college however I took "medical micro" instead of "general micro" and I took "communications 101" instead of "interpersonal" or whatever they wanted..they were trying to get me to pay SO MUCH money to retake classes Ive essentially already taken. I even challenged the dean with this. in the end, they want their money so I looked into other options. If you want to go back to this school Id say take their pre reqs at a CC or through straighterline (which they told me they accept).

Hi. I am looking on applying to there for the LVN Program. Did you by chance take the LVN program at the Sacramento campus. If so, can you give me some in sights of how the school is along with the instructors and clincals? Thank you.

I would strongly stay away from Unitek college LVN program in sacramento. Their program requires you to do a Pre-Req class which is a duration of 2 weeks that cost $3000 before you can enter the core that is considered the "real" program. The program is 11 months and at the end need to pass a kaplan (*@ above a certain percentage based on nation scores) in order for the school to release your papers. Every cohort that have finished have had to wait 4-5 months for their board papers to allow you to sit in the NCLEX-PN.

on a side note, members of the admissions department have been fired because they were allowing students who didn't pass entrance exam so they could get the $3000 deposit on pre-req fee that needed to be paid in whole. There have been students who had affairs with staff members for answers on the exam which I have screenshots of students using to get through the exam with the proclaimed same exact questions on exams. Teachers have also used a method to cheat the system by giving answers to students. For example; a teacher will provide a PowerPoint and ALL or at least majority (~90%) of the answers were written in a colored font. The PowerPoint that was printed for us would be in black and white so that would allow students to "know" what was exactly on the exam. Former teachers have mentioned that old coworkers would give the exam from the test bank. Answers have been getting passed down from prior cohorts.

Sorry for the rant; but if you were looking for quality education with proper values then this school is not for you.

To be honest, the program was pretty bad. During medsurg we had three different instructors, one was fired, one quit and the one we were left with was all over the place. Clinical time was helpful but could have been a lot better. Multiple times i found my classmates in the break rooms asleep or on their phones instead of on the floor. The positive thing was the exams were challenging and I was very well prepared for the NCLEX. If you're desperate, go for it. If you can wait longer or travel I would try another school such as a community college, Sac State, or Chamberlain
