BSN to LVN/LPN before RN. PLEASE HELP

Hi Everyone!

I am a newbie here so I hope someone would welcome me with their warm knowledge about my dillema.

I studied and finished BSN abroad. and NO I AM NOT A BOARD PASSER. I am located in LA, California now. I want to challenge the NCLEX-PN exam while working on my paperworks for NCLEX-RN. I know it'll take time to pass the NCLEX-RN because waiting on the eligibility letter takes me forever. I want to be a licensed holder of anything(that is related to my course) so finding job will not be that pain in the buttt. Can anyone point me and tell me where should I start so I could take or challenge the NCLEX-PN exam? Challenging CNA exam was my first choice but someone in this forum advise me to take NCLEX-PN (LVN/LPN) instead. So I'm taking his advise. He didnt reply again so I thought posting another question would be helpful than waiting on his reply.

Please tell me where to start. I am planning to call the BRN regarding this but I want to do my own research first.

What are the papers I'm going to need to challenge the NCLEX-PN exam?

Is being an LPN/LVN is better that being a CNA?

I'm a BSN so do I need to take classes or training still?

In my state you cannot gain a license as a practical nurse unless you attended an accredited school of practical nursing, so if you were applying in NJ you would only be eligible to apply for RN. I don't live in CA so I am not familiar with the application process for a LVN/

If the reason you want to apply to be a practical nurse is that you would like to start working while waiting for your RN application to be approved you may be disappointed. Generally the same paperwork. background check & credential evaluation required for a license as an RN is also required for a license as an LPN/LVN.

If you have already submitted an application for RN there is no point in applying for an LVN license as it would take just as long if not longer.

Sorry, I'm guessing that is not what you want to hear.

@mrstajoo, Im sorry if didnt respond quickly coz im busy with my all requirements for applying a job..I read your post that your not RN in our country am heres a problem with that, First before i applying for NCLEX PN exam I thought they dont need to be RN but im suprisingly coz i received a message from the BVNPT ( this is board for LVN ) that they need a license card or registration that your a certified RN in the our country before they release the exam result so sent immediately that requirement, so I advised you call the BVNPT this is the nos: 916 263 7800 and tell your situation before you working the requirements..
