ADN vs. BSN hiring patterns are often a regional thing.
Example...I'm in St. Louis, and the trend is definitely towards hiring BSNs, but ADNs are still getting hired (just at a lower rate than say 10 years ago). If you move out towards the more rural areas about 50 miles from St. Louis, it doesn't seem to make much of a difference (based on looking at ads...far less of them say "BSN preferred").
Ask around in your area, or check out the help wanted ads for facilities by you. I'd say you're likely safe with an ADN, but your options might be somewhat limited.

Im currently attending a trade school for my LVN and one of my classmates told me that hospitals will not be hiring RNs with ADNs starting in 2014. Can anyone shed some light on this? I still need my prereqs completed for the ADN program so if the hospitals are not hiring ADNs in 2014, I have to go for the BSN program instead. I cant complete my ADN before 2014. So does anyone know if what my classmate told me is true? Thanks.
