Working towards LPN school!

Hello,

Is there anyone here who had to take some classes to help them before they had to take prereq for lpn? It would be about a year before I can take classes towards lpn. When I do start taking lpn classes I would like to be prepared to handle them. I just did not want to start and ended up doing poorly because it is such a hard program. I am so :angryfire with my current job! I just don't know what to do. I cry all the time because I am soo unhappy with working the the office setting. What should I do until I am able to go to lpn school. I would love to get a job working maybe at the front desk of a hospital until I am able to go to lpn school. My husband says it's a waste to try to find another job but just to focus on getting the skills I need to go to lpn school. what do you think?

Here in Florida, most of our schools do not require you to take prereqs. Maybe that is something you have available in your state. Do not be so hard on yourself about not doing well in school. I did poorly when I was in highschool but I am an A. B student now in LPN school. I always feared doing poorly. Things change as you get older. Maybe you can get you CNA lisence and work as a CNA until you get into school. The patient care experience comes in handy when you are an LPN. Most classes take only 3 or 4 months. Working as a unit secretary is an option as well. Good luck to you.

Mydee, do you have a copy the curriculum of the school you are going to attend?

Many schools have classes that are open to persons that are not in nursing. ( general psych, nutrition, english....) that would be accepted as credits toward the nursing program if a certain grade is obtained.

This would get in the swing of school and lighten the load after you start.

Discuss this with the admission office of the school before you spend hard earned $$$$$.

PS: If you are weak in math you may want to look @ beefing up on that for pharm.
