Tips on what to study for Anatomy and Physiology

Hello,

I'm going to be starting LPN school in March & I would like to get a heads up on A&P because the program I'm going to is very fast paced and compressed. I will have 8 Subjects to learn in the first 13 weeks including Pharmacology, A&P and drug Dosage Calculations. I Figured why not start studying A&P since it requires a lot of memorization. Does this sounds like a good idea, or should I just wait to go along with the class? All advice is greatly appreciated! :)

Unfortunately in 13 weeks, you can't get the full amount of A&P that you'd get over a year's span. That being said, at least take a look at "survey" courses and see what they cover. You're going to want to read over cells, basic cellular structure, basic cellular metabolism, some basic chemistry as it pertains to metabolism and electrical charge of atoms and the bonds they can have with other atoms, and then start reading about the systems. Since this is going to come at you really fast, probably an integrated A&P study by system would be better than learning the structures (anatomy) and then learning how they work (physiology).

There are lots of resources out on the web to help you figure out the basics of each system.

I applaud you for getting a head start on this stuff because it is important to learn and because it's going to be presented to you very quickly. If they have provided you a syllabus already, start studying off of that.
