Starting an LVN program in Feb.

Hi everyone! I have just recently found out that I was accepted into a program starting in Feb. 2008. I'm very excited for this! I was just wanting to know what you guys went through and what you liked most, what you found to be the most difficult etc. So please let me know your experience as a LVN/LPN student! Thank you

:welcome: Welcome! Even though you've been a member for greater than 2 years, I see that this is your very first post.

The most difficult challenge was trying to stay out of the politics that thoroughly permeated the program. My instructors wanted me to be more outgoing, and a few of my younger classmates were gossipy and catty. I was targeted for being a 'loner,' and for purposely separating myself from the group.

I liked the fact that I attended school in the city (greater Los Angeles area). The city is diverse, energetic, and good for the psyche. As a result, I got exposed to a wide range of patient populations. I saw patients in the upscale hospitals in West Hills and Encino, as well as the 'downscale' hospitals in Panorama City and San Fernando.

Congratulations! My biggest adjustment was getting used to the program pretty much ruling my life for a year but in the end it was worth it. Just stay on top of your reading and studying because there won't be time to catch up if you fall behind. Let us know how you are doing!

This is an excellent point. Earlier today I posted in a thread complaining about how I hated my inner city LPN school but I have say my clinical experiences were fantastic, way more challenging and interesting than the ones I'm getting in RN school so far.

Yeah I have been a member for awhile. I love to read what everyone has to say about nursing and their experiences :) I am only 19 years old I just finished getting my AA in general studies and I have all my pre-reqs for nursing school but because of how impacted the programs are I decided to get started with my LVN, it's that first step :)
