So how was your first day?

For those of us just starting LPN school, how was your first day???

My first day was a bit disappointing. The whole first day was spent doing some sort of "character first" program. All of the health careers were together in the main lecture hall and we sat all day and listened to lectures on ethics (not related to nursing), finances, and some other stuff Really a waste of time IMO, but I think it had something to do with government funding, who knows? We didn't get any information about the LPN program, other than to see who the instructors were, no books, nothing

On top of that a friend from work and I both got into the same program, and both plan to go straight into an RN program upon graduation. We weren't sure which, but I was hoping we might go to the same RN school too. But, when I got to class she told me the LPN program called her and asked her if she wanted to do the 1+1 program. Of course, she went for it (who wouldn't) but I was just disappointed because now we won't be in the same class, she'll graduate 6wks early, and she's got a garunteed seat in the RN program come fall. She gets to skip out on application season completely. I'm happy for her, but just disappointed. If I had ONE more class (med term.) I'd have been able to get in along with her, but this is not something they advertise or will even tell you about when you apply, otherwise I'd have made sure to finish over the summer

Anyway, today was really fun. We finally broke off and got to meet our instructors, got our syllabi, our shedules, and info about clinicals and stuff like that. It was more laid back than I expected and our main instructor seems great We watched some videos about safety and blood borne pathogens, so that part felt like nursing school!

Tomorrow we get our text books. Altogether they will cost $1200 We have a quiz tomorrow and I can finally start to crack the books. I'm really, really excited about this, I just can't wait. All day all I could think about was "I'm a nursing student!!!!!"

I'm sorry your first day was so poopy. mines not until tuesday, and i know it will pretty much be a recap of orientation and well get our pics for school id's done. i only know all this because my husband went thru the program a couple of years ago. i also have the advantage that i know 4 people in my class already. and am good friends with 3 of them. judging from the cold sore developing on my cheek, :cry:im nervous. but im also soooo excited:yeah:

There is a thread on the LPN/LPN forum called "first day of lpn school 2008", it has alot of first days beginning last friday.
