I start LPN school January 12th at Centra College of Nursing.

I am so excited because it has been a long journey so far to get to this point. About 3 years ago I considered being a nurse... So i applied for this same LPN program. I was rejected, and not surprised. At that time I was pregnant with my son Micah at age 21. So after giving birth I applied to a CNA class and completed that. I enjoyed the class and learnign the skills. I got my first job as a CNA on the progressive cardiac unit at my local hospital. I then began taking all the pre-reqs for the RN program (( my "C" in A&P part one held me back from being accepted even though all my other grades are As and Bs .... )) I then took a 3 week class to become a Registered Medication Aide aka Med Tech. So im very familiar with long term care and medication administration, along with my hospital experiance.

I found out in July that I was accepted to the LPN program!! I feel like its been forever since I figured out I wanted to be a nurse to where I am now about to start nursing school.

I work full time as a med aide and I am a single mother. Luckily I am blessed with a very strong support system and loving people all around me.

So even with being a full time employee, a full time mom, and a full time student, I will conquer nursing school!!!

I cant stand to hear about people saying that it will be impossible with a job and kid, Ive been in school and work full time since my son was born and Ive managed to get great grades and balance my life just fine. :)

Wow!! Congrats girl. Hope all goes well for you. I am a mother of 2 and work full time and I must say that it was really hard for me to work and study and take care of the kids. Now I am determined to put my feet down and get to working because nursing has been my dream since the 12th grade of highschool. I am going to finish with my prereqs and once I get into a program I am going to see how easy or hard it is to stay in school and have other responsibilities. I wish that I had supported family but my Husband has but sometimes I feel like it was still too much.

You can do it! Im just lucky to have a large family, and everyone wants time with my son. So its easy for him to play with his cousins or something while I study. Its taken me almost three years to get to LPN, when people are gearing up to finish a Bachelors degree with RN. Nothing has been easy, its exhausting, but remembering where you come from and having to work to get to where you want to be will always be humbling. We can do it :)

I'm doing it. It's totally possible :yes: Keep your eyes on the prize!!! When the day(s) come that you feel like throwing in the towel because it seems impossible, your exhausted and you don't want to keep it up, read this post. Remember why you are doing this. It's not impossible just hard. But everything worth it is. Good luck!!

Congrats! You can do anything! You are MOMMY! I am a full time pharmacy tech at very busy hospital in Detroit, mommy to a 2 year old little monster (I mean "princess"), started my LPN program in September. I may be going part time due to clinicals next semester, but if I can make it work I will. Grind now, to relax later. Best wishes Future :nurse:s!

Haha! I totally understand the "monster".. My son will be three in January, and my gosh, he is something else. Its always a new thought like... where did he learn that???!!! exactly, work hard now, relax later!
