second time around

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hello everyone. I would like your opinion. I was a lpn student back in

2003. I was a young immature kid who didn't appreciate the opportunity. But now I have a second chance that I plan to take full advantage of. Do you think I should share this with my new classmates?

Specializes in CNA.

Sure, it will motivate them to take this program serious. I would not be ashamed of it either because a lot of people, including myself, went to school and played around. Sometimes it just takes us awhile to grow up and mature a bit before we are ready to make career decisions. I think you will do great this time. I feel like this is my last opportunity at school and a career, so I am not letting anything get in my way for 18 months.

I also am looking for a second chance and hope I get it. My GPA is 2.6 because I messed up when I was younger. I don't have the $$ to just "take classes" to up my GPA. No schools will look at me because I don't have at least a 3.0. So I am going the LPN route hoping for a chance and then get me RN. I am a mother of 3 and turning 36 tomorrow. I wish schools realize this instead of looking at my GPA. I want a job so my kids can have an education too. So I am looking to do the 12 month LPN in September and like previous post...nothing will stand in my way!!!! This is my chance!!! Good Luck!! Be proud and ashamed. I'm sure there are others in your situation that say nothing. You'd be surprised :)

There's NOTHING to be ashamed about. I am currently in school (I'll be 38 at the end of the month), a few of my classmates are 2nd and 3rd timers. This is my 1st time in nursing school and so far the class work is pretty easy. Before school started I informed everyone in my circle that I will not be available for parties, lengthy phone calls, problem solving and the usual hands on things. March 2010 thru March 2011 is ME TIME. NOTHING and NO ONE will stand in the way of my dreams. Remember to study, read read read your chapters, MAKE notes during lecture, and most of all HAVE FUN! Good Luck to you!

Thank you for your opinion. I'm undecided about the situation but still praying about it. I think my biggest worry is that I'll be judged for what I was not who I am today.
