Questions About Vocational Schools

I will be applying to a vocational school in the near future and I had a couple questions to ask the school before I apply. I was wondering if I should add anything else to my list.:
1. Obviously, tuition costs. And what is included in this, i.e. books, uniform, etc.
2. Financial aid options
3. About the program- How long is it? Am I guaranteed a job afterwards? How many days a week are classes? And are morning classes available (they work best for me)?
Should I ask anymore? Please post soon. I'm meeting with an advisor tomorrow. Thanks

Is there anything you need to get done before school starts? Prereq classes, immunizations, etc. When would you be admitted and what does the admission process involve? How big are the classes and how many students actually make it through? That's all I can think of at the moment. Good luck on your new adventure!

Hey there, the thing I dont like about vocational school is that the credits won't transfer. Like if you took English, Psychology, Math, etc. I went to a vocational school after high school and my recent school that I go to now which is a community college, didn't accept any credits except Medical Terminology. Plus, it is more expensive if it is a private school.

You may want to ask where they do there clinicals; long term care facilities, acute care, etc. I go to a community college...but the vocational school in my area mainly just does long term care. They only spend like 3 or 4 weeks in acute care and only observe peds and OB. the rest is in LTC. So that's probably a good question to ask depending on where you want to work as an LPN. Their program is more for working in LTC than a hospital setting.

votech here does no long term care except part of the two wks we were at the va hosp

cost vary according to your income and family income

you can usually get loans and grants to cover a lot of expenses...this votech has not child care but some around the state does..if you qualify you may get child care elsewhere if you need it

as for job availability it varies..but usually 100% are working with a couple of months but it may not be the field you would wish .. if you find yourself in that position go ahead and take the job at least you will learn something and you will have something to put on your resume

this is a state run facility...don't know about private schools be careful of these and talk with grad to see if they were comfortable when they went to work about what they had learned and what they had been trained to do

some of these are just there to get the money and if you don't learn then it is just tough

think things over and weigh your options...this can effect the rest of your life

Depends on the school, TVI of Albuquerque (where I went to school) had credits transferrable to UNM and University of Colorado.
