Platt college

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I plan on attending Platt college LPN Program and would like any kind of feedback.

My reasons for attending is the program is that it's only 17 months. I'm able to take night classes and still keep my day job. There is no waiting list

The only problem is for that year and a half its $30,000 and all I have to worry about is pen and paper.

I want to attend Tulsa Community college because it's cheaper but there is a long waiting list. They get over 300 applicants a year that apply and only accept 90.

I think 30,000 is a lot but I'm willing to make some sacrifices.

I read some reviews and most of them were negative, but every school pretty much have negative reviews. I really would appreciate any type of feedback from any who who attended .

I graduated from their LPN-to-RN completion program in OKC last year and didn't even pay anything close to $30,000 in tuition.

I'm going to be straightforward with you. Oklahoma, and the Tulsa area in general, does not pay LPNs very well. If you borrow $30,000 to attend this program, your student loan payments are going to be in the $500 range per month for the next ten years. However, you are not going to earn much more than $15 or $16 per hour as an LPN in Oklahoma ($30,000 to $35,000 range per year). A massive chunk of your net pay is going to go toward the monthly student loan payment.

I would hold out for the school with the cheaper tuition, or perhaps commute to a school with cheaper tuition. After all is said and done, you'll come out far ahead if you pay less in tuition. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

thanks! i really appreciate that. My plan is to be a RN. I want to get my LPN and then go for my RN.

thanks again!!!

I am attending Platt college now. If you can hold out for the waiting list or maybe try another votech in your area I would do that. If not go for it, its hard and a lot of people get dropped. But good luck.

Thanks penaheather

do you think i should hold out because of cost or other reasons? besides the cost how do you feel about the school and the nursing program?

Umm, if you want honesty, its the money issue and they treat you as if you are in kindergarten. I don't feel you get what you are paying for, but that is my opinion.

Thanks I appricate it!

I went to Platt. My monthly payments are $250/month. I would recommend Platt as long as you can study and be in class everyday. It is hard but very structured. My class started out with 52 and 27 graduated. The people that don't make it are the ones not committed.

Tulsa and surrounding area starting pay at nursing homes are $17-19/h, hospitals are $14-16/hour with shift diff. I started at a nursing home making $18/h now working in a hospital making $16/h + shift diff.

Hope this helps

I would consider a different school I'm currently enrolled in the LPN program in Wayne, Oklahoma and i only Paid $2500 for the course.

Hello jwsmith,

I can not believe there's an Lvn school for 2,500? Explain the money aspect to me and put the phone number please.

I will advise anyone trying to upgrade his/her career into nursing to go to a community college. I know it can be tough to get in but it will defnitely pay off later... Private schools are after your money, they let you teach yourself and some schools like Platt Dallas change your results to favor you or to kick you out. Upon that you dont get a job because you went there. ( I heard they are about to close it now).

Fortis College( Grand prairie, Tx) does not only have a initial/warning but also going down the hill. I hope they last a year or two more.. Their customer service sucks, their academic advisors need special training. They are all aggressive and rude. As a matter of fact I went there to make an inquiry the other day as I was sitting and waiting for almost an hr with my aunt, this little African girl came out crying coz (the big pregnant lady one of the directors of the school) had told her she will never succeed in nursing coz her transfers had some Bs and no As. She also said that as long as she had a gpa of 2.8 or something which was their minimum she won't even let her have her check her vitals... She said to her that she did poorly and looked like she will never pass her Nclex.. I was shocked , my mouth and eyes were literally wide open. This girl was calm and all she said to her was your not God and she knew what she was capable of. We had to leave immediately..

You can go to Kaufman College, Elcentro, Paris COLLEGE any community college is ok..

Do NOT go to platt for your LPN...they are not accredited! The nurses I work with laugh about platt and I have known people who have gone there and been unable to get a job at all.
