LPN in Oklahoma here...I used to work inpatient psych for a large hospital and I did everything that the RNs did on our unit, with the exception of admitting new patients. Currently I'm working in outpatient radiology prepping people for CTs and MRIs so I start ivs, access ports, draw labs, and do ekgs.

I've worked both, 12s as an lpn and as a nurse tech on inpatient units and 8s currently in an outpatient setting. I hate working five 8hr shifts a week.

Do NOT go to platt for your LPN...they are not accredited! The nurses I work with laugh about platt and I have known people who have gone there and been unable to get a job at all.

Im actually in the tulsa tech program right, finishing up in a few weeks. I also have a daughter (almost 3) and while my husband works, we need my paycheck as well. I currently work nights as a nurse tech at the hospital (7p-7a), mainly on weekends

We go back after three week off. Soooo not ready lol

How does the extern program work? I'm currently a tech in the children's hospital and should be done with my LPN in the spring and am hoping to go on with a bridge program
