So, I've almost finished my second semester in the LPN program, with only 12 weeks left before graduation. I had no idea what I was doing going into this thing... I had my ideas and what they tell you at orientation to go on, but wow, it wasnt what I expected.

I must say that I had every intention of being online more to offer whatever support I could give, however became completely engrossed in my studies with such a challenging program that I quickly lost track of time. The first semester I remember thinking "How am I going to do this?".

I would bet that many of you are going through the same predicament.

When you're not in class, at clinicals, or studying, you are working, running the hosehold and taking care of the kids....and if you're lucky you get to actually sleep!

Sound familiar?

Is it hard at times? YES!

Is it a huge sacrifice? YES!

Is it a struggle to keep up with deadlines and skills, and testing schedules, clinicals and all the responsibilities of life...YES!

Is it worth every minute in the end? ABSOLUTELY YES!

Only now am I finally starting to see that light at the end of the tunnel....

Now, with all that being said, my point is:TRY not to get too discouraged.

Remember that when you're feeling alone and that all ever do it seems is school and studying, and you're so stressed out that you could "pop" at any moment... try and remember that it will all be worth it in the end, and to never give up.

It can be hard to keep your focus when there's so much going on around you. Keep your eyes on the prize. YOU can do this.

I needed to read this. After today's school work and reading assignments etc. I found myself crying asking what did I get myself into. My daughter is craving my attention and I feel do guilty for studying. 7 more months! Hope I can make it.

It sounds like you're going through a rough time right now. Are you in your first semester? First semester was the hardest for me.

Unfortunately, when kids are little they dont understand that mommy is busy.

I'd like to make a suggestion if I may, since I taught positive parenting for many years.

I wonder...If you could take and set 30 minutes aside before you started studying to focus strictly on "one on one" time with her? Your daughter can get her "mommy time" in and you may be more likely to be able to focus on your studies. Im thinking no cell phone, computer, tv, just you and her enjoying each other's company. Color together, read a book, play a game or simply cuddle. Maybe give it a try and see what happens?

I know nursing school isnt easy or everyone would be doing it!

You CAN and you WILL do this! Let me know if you try it and if it helps. I hope it does.

Thanks! We go by blocks. So I just started block 2 which is second semester. This program has 3 blocks. It's a 12 month program.

I've done what you've suggested but that was in the first semester. Now with reading 6-7 chapters for a test and memorizing drugs I kind of stopped. I'm gonna start that again. Thanks for reminding me. :)

It's going good. ALOT of reading and fast paced! Dont be nervous. I was too. But im starting to get the hang of things. How long is your program?

Thanks for the encouraging words. I start LPN school on May 14th and I am so pumped excited and ready. I am a little nervous because I WANT this but the "lazy" me is thinking about allllllll of the studying I will have to do. But you get out what you put in and failure isn't an option for me. I am very excited and I hope all of you ladies succeed in all you do.

It is a lot of work, but it's like you said, futurenursenesha , "you get out of it what you you put into it". Our program is a 12 month long program too, and there is a lot to learn in such a short time.

But...it CAN BE DONE! And although there were times I wanted to cry and give up, I am still here and have made it 3/4 of the way.

And YOU'RE going to do this!

Thank you. Thank god I have a husband that can/does help. It would be way harder without him. I'm gonna keep on keeping on! The time will fly!

God bless you, whats you have said is exactly what I have been thinking. Thats what I focuse on..when I have my license in my hand. It Doesn't matter how tired, how sick , how busy or how much work it is......"look at the end of the tunnel".

I cant believe how fast the time has gone by. Im sure it has something to do with how busy school keeps us. Isnt there a saying "time flies when youre having fun"!
