Hey,
Any new or current LPN students here in Chicago, lets start a thread/blog/or conversation where we can share our experiences with each other. We can share our first year experiences and give those who are starting after us some insight into what is expected from our various programs. Also, I would love to hear from current LPN students who can give us some insight, tips, or advice on their LPN program. I will be attending ATS starting 9/2/2014 and I have orientation this Thursday 8/7/2014 and I am both excited and nervous as to what is expected during this program. Good Luck to you all!!!!!!
I actually like the program, the teachers are very helpful, they teach you the jist of things so you will have to do a lot of self study on your own but they make sure that you know what's important, the only thing I didn't like is that the clinical site is wayyyyyyy out in bollingbrook, but I can't stress enough how important it is to study during your free time, also get a drug reference book and a nursing care plan book, you will need those
I came across my original message and I was just starting out at ATS...WOW, how time has flown!!!! I am now in my 3rd semester, working full-time and currently maintaining an A average (at mid-term). It has been rough and this semester has REALLY been tough, I have been working full-time and going to school for 6 days and trying to stay current with all of my work and classes. ATS is definitely what you make of it, because with professors quitting left and right and student's drama it is easy to get caught up in the madness. My advice is take good notes and go home and read and research the material yourself AND stay out of anything that will distract you from your studies. Good Luck, and I will follow-up at the end of the semester!!!!!!
Yeah, books and uniforms are not included. Your monthly payment depends on how much you make and if you have kids or not. My monthly payment is $769 a month, but I get tuition reimbursement through my job and I pay in one lump sum. I have heard payments as low as $189 up to $769 a month. They also have a new and better financial aid person working so maybe she can help you get a cheaper payment. Good Luck!!!!!
Just an update, i graduated from best med care in sept, and i have since been?studying for nclex, i passed it last tuesday with 85 questions, i used te saunders comprehensive review and ReMar Review self study program to study, and also i put in an application at manor care yesterday and got hired on the spot
How are you??? Are you working as a Lpn yet? I just finished my program and I'm waiting to take a 3wk review course and my exit exam....super excited!!!!!
I start orientation Wednesday, and im super excited, they are giving me a small pt load so that i can be acclimated to the position, but i cant stress enough how important it is to study core content, im now pondering doing an lpn-rn bridge program

Hey,
I noticed you are a student at Best-med. I will be starting their LPN program in July. How is it for you so far? Do you like the teachers?
