NCLEX exam with 205 questions

  1. I was just wondering about experiences of anybody who has taken the NCLEX PN exam and had 205 questions. Did most people pass at 205? Did most fail at 205? I looked at several of the other threads about results and noticed most people only had 85 questions. I know that whether you pass or fail is not strictly contingent on how many questions you answered, but at the same time I haven't seen a single thread with anybody saying they had the maximum number of questions and their results. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Pass/Fail is not based on the number of questions you get. It's based on how difficult they were. There is no way to tell from the number of questions you got.

    Good luck.

I have heard both ends of the spectrum, that those with 205 have just as much chance of passing as those with 85. I was an 85 person, so to speak, and the questions got more difficult for me, but I passed. I heard that the computer goes by your cognitive level, and by the time it gets to 85, it has to see how many difficult questions you were able to answer correctly, and if it is in the middle, they continue to ask until the computer can gauge one way or another whether you can be considered a safe practioner or not. I hear also that it may begin to ask less difficult questions after awhile as well, but was never sure of how NCLEX actually worked. I wish you the best of luck!

WOW that is a lot of ?'s i've never heard of anone going that far. i think that is the most amount of ?'s u can have. NCLEX is going to give u as many ?'s as u need to pass. So it could be good or it could be bad. I passed as 85 and so did most of my friends. How long ago did u take it? u should get a letter in about 2 wks.
