Hi all! im planning to take LVN course at casa loma (private school) here in So Cali. I have read in one of the threads that credits from private schools are NOT transferred to LVN-RN/BSN bridge programs. Is there any truth to this? I am worried because wit where i am now, i have no choice but get into a private school and i have plans of continuing my education in the future. THanks much! :wink2:

True. They won't transfer. My daughter attended Casa Loma; now she's taking prerequisites for RN program and has to take all classes at the comm college. You can verify this by asking the various nrsg depts of the schools you are considering. Good luck.

Although they won't transfer it depends on the school you plan to take your RN at, as for me, the credits don't transfer however they do give you "credit" for completing the LVN, and you'll bridge into the 3rd semester of the RN program. However although they give you "credit" for completing your LVN, the "credits" will not show up on your transcripts.

I attended Casa Loma College's LVN program at the Van Nuys campus in 2004 and 2005. It is true about the credits not transferring, but I knew this before I made the final decision to enroll.

LVN-to-RN bridge programs will give you 1 year of credit and advanced placement for possessing the LVN license. However, the actual A&P, med math, and other curricula taken at the private LVN school will not transfer to a community college or university for actual credit. Casa Loma's coursework is at the diploma level, whereas you need college level classes to transfer to an RN program.

The typical LVN-to-RN bridge program is 1 year long if you have already completed your prerequisite classes.

If you still need to take prereqs (such as A&P, micro, algebra, etc.), it will take longer.
