LPN student needs help!

I'm not really sure what a "private state school" would be, because it seems like it would be one or the other, but normally a private school has a more concentrated program, like 1 year vs 18 months or 2 years, to do the same thing-- and also the waiting lists are longer for the state schools (tech and community college), as they are partially supported with taxpayer funding.

I would encourage you to contact the schools you are interested in to find out all the details. Also check into the job market projections for LPNs in your state as things have changed somewhat lately as far as demand for nurses is concerned. Best wishes!!

I agree check out the curriculum and definitely check out how your clinicals are going to be set up (how many weeks and location). Those clinicals are important for learning those skills you need and for networking. At that price, they better be offering a guaranteed job after graduation.

A lot of schools are for profit; for example Devry. Sometimes these schools/private companies make it easier to get admitted, but they will charge an arm and a leg. I would suggest a community college.

To be honest $32K is pretty much what an LPN may start off with...if they are lucky because I have seen them go as low as $27k. Also right now it's hard to get a job as a LPN rookie. Many employers are looking for at least 2 years of experience and you still will not make as much as the RN. If you are going to stay in your area I would suggest looking at the job opportunities.

I go to a community college and the whole program is about $3k. This includes the tuition, books, uniforms, etc. I will be graduating in six more weeks and not for sure where I am going to work because even the RN graduates are having a hard time finding a job!
