Has anyone gone/ going to Bates Technical College for PN?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I am starting in March and I have no idea what to expect. I heard it is pretty rigorous but I'd like to hear from someone other than an advisor.

I'd like to know how long the wait was for you? I'm interested in applying but there are some schoold around here that keeps a wait list over 2yrs long. I don't want to wait that long. I had a co-worker that went there and some friends that's went to other schools (RN though) and everyone says their program is rigorous. BUt that's nursing. I don't think you're gonna find one that's actually a "breeze". Just try your best and you'll do fine. Congrats!

I was going to go to bates but was told the wait list was 2 yrs or more. So I applied to Clover Park Tech's Lpn program and I am starting here in 1 week. I did have to wait a little bit before I could start the program though but I can't wait to start.

Bates has recently changed their admission requs. You now have to have a CNA License before applying to their program. Also, students must have a $1 million during clinicals. Makes me wonder if something happened during their clinicals

I'm enrolled at Clover Park and start clincals April 7. The first six months were intense - LOTS (!!) of studying, some people quit or failed out on the way, but if you are determined and really, really want to succeed, you can.

When I went to the orientation at Bates they said it would probably be a year or so before I enter the program. I only had to wait about 4 months because they had a lot of slots to fill in that quarter so I guess I got lucky! so far it has been a TON of work but im glad it's not easy. Bates has the highest passing rate on the NCLEX out of any other LPN program in the state.

So after turning in all paper work, what is the wait time? A year, few months, several months? I know the website said they get back to students about 6-8 wks to let them know when they start but I wanna know how long that usually is. Thanks

Hey i know its been over a yeat since this post but i was wondering how this program ended up working out for you. I start this fall and i havent heard any feed back from a student so i was wondering how it went for you. Hope to hear back from you soon. getting really excited

Well I am not the person who posted this, but if they did in fact start in March 2009 I was in that class, and I graduated in February. I consider myself to be pretty intelligent, and the school was pretty rigorous, but if you are really motivated you can get through it. I was a single mom of a 1 year old when I started, and luckily was laid off and collecting unemployment throughout the program, because should I have had to work I don't think I would have done well. You do have to study and it's best to get a study group/partner who wants it as bad as you do, but don't get caught up in the drama. The teachers for the most part do their job and relay the information you need, and who knows if you're not like some of the students who whine and complain about them you just may learn something. Don't listen to the rumors and judge the teachers, give them a chance. It is a tough program and the teachers for the most part want you to succeed. I am far from a kiss ass and have never failed a test in the program, the lowest grade I got was an 86% and that was in my favorite subject that I thought I knew so much about, so actually close your mouth and listen and you will do fine!!

Actually my husband was stationed in KS in October last year, so I was in WA finishing up school, and now I am here in Kansas and 6 mos pregnant, so no working yet, but there is a bridge program here that I can finish in 6 mos and there is no wait list, it is just an hour away from where we live... after I have the baby I think I might start there. Well good luck and I wish you the best!
