........they are turning us LOOSE in 4 short weeks. :D

What are these people thinking? You actually want me to find a job and start nursing?

Ok seriously though, does anyone else feel like they could use more education? I'm scared to be honest. I know I'll have orientation wherever I find a job but thats not helping my anxiety level. I mean, what if I kill someone? :uhoh21:

I'm sure my school did a good job preparing us, our NCLEX pass rate is 99.3% first try. That still doesn't alleviate my fears.

Someone tell me it will be ok, that I'm normal, and that I won't kill anyone, lol :lol2:

I'm also going to a school with a good reputation, and one that has a high NCLEX pass rate. Still, I don't feel ready. I want to go back to first semester and pay closer attention in skills lab! I'd spend a ton more time in open lab, too, for all the advice from nurses plus the practice. Precepting with my RN is really helpful. We have to do 96 hours of one on one time with a nurse, and it's a world away from the classroom and even clinical. There's so much to consider beyond what you'd think when in school. Dealing with other nurses is a big deal, as in, from what I've seen, you've got to get "in" with the group, or you're at a major disadvantage. Nursing is completely different from what I thought it was when I started.

I don't think we'll "kill anyone" as long as we follow even the most basic skills we've learned. I feel pretty good about patient care, actually. I just wish I'd have focused more on the rarer procedures that aren't done everyday. There are things I've learned that I've never seen or practiced in clinical or precepting. This stuff makes me nervous, but there's always going to be stuff we don't know as long as health care keeps advancing, I guess.
