Hi Boyer. Check this website for LPNS school in new york

http://www.cpnpnys.org/locator.html

Also, you may want to check the NY board of nursing website for the accredited schools.

Here it is: http://www.op.nysed.gov/nurseprogs.htm

Good luck with nursing school!

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think there are any online programs existing to prepare you to become an LPN. There are online programs that assist LPNs to become RNs.

LPN programs range from 9 months to 2 years, depending on if it is a diploma or degree program. LPN education is intense and requires both classroom for nursing theory (didactic) and clinical rotations to nursing homes, hospitals, MRDD facilities, and clinics. I am not sure about NYS, but in many places, LPNs are primarily hired to work in nursing homes because of their limited scope of practice in comparison to RNs, but it greatly depends on the state.

yes you are right antflip, there is no such thing as “online” lpn programs.

mybaby123, please check my above post for lpns schools in new york.

once you become an lpn, then you can do the lpn to rn “online”, such as excelsior college (i think i will do excelsior once i finshed my lpn program, 3-4 more months yay!). good luck with nursing school.

Has anybody heard of the Mandl school of allied health. I am thinking of going for RMA. what do you guys think? please help I don't want to make the wrong choice.

The RMA is not the same thing as the LPN, nor can you take the NCLEX exam with this training. There have been a few posts where the poster thought that it was now possible and it is not.

You probably will have issues trying to find a program that has decent tuition that has openings in Janurary, most accept applications much further out and already have their classes set.

The on-line programs for the LPN are not accepted in most states. Once you have your LPN, there are some on-line programs available to continue on for your RN; but be aware that they are not accepted in all states and if later on in your career, you wish to relocate; those states will not be an option for you. They will not accept your application for endorsement.

So you don't think taking the RMA is a good. I was thinking I take the RMA work with that for a while then go back and get my RN. what do you suggest that I do.

It depends on what your definition of "good" is. Would it help you once you go back to school one day for your RN? To some degree, yes, but not in terms of transfer credit. RMA classes are not on a par with the college-level classes you will take to become an RN. I don't exactly want to say that you'd be wasting your time, but many schools that offer RMA programs are expensive and if your ultimate goal is to become an RN, it would be my advice to skip the RMA and either go straight for RN or get your LPN and then transition to RN. LPNs are very marketable, the salary is usually very competitive, and the education you will get will much better prepare you for becoming an RN.

Just my $.02

Very good advice. While I love what I do as a medical assistant (RMA), my ultimate goal is to go back to school for my LPN or RN license; I wish someone had given me the same advice oh so many years ago.

Just remember one important fact; most medical assistant programs last for about 9 months, while most LPN programs last about 12 months~~~so for 3 more months, you could end up with a LICENSE instead of a certification-and this calculates to BETTER EARNING POTENTIAL and better preparation to ultimately becoming an RN (if I knew this 18 yrs ago, I would have went straight to LPN school and not made a pit stop in medical assisting school). Good Luck in WHATEVER you choose!!!!
