Any good study guides for the teas?

Hello everyone! I'm new to the boards and just wanted to know if you ladies and gentleman knew if there were any good study guides for the lpn teas exam? I know there were a couple of books on amazon for the nursing teas exam but I don't know if its the same material. I just need to get some ideas because I have until the end of march to study! Thanks a bunch! :D

Search for TEAS here. I posted some info, and links earlier. The math was straight out of the G.E.D. math review books. I presume that English would also be GED-level. I only had problems with the math because it was simple arithmetic and there was no calculator, and I hadn't done that stuff in decades, hehe.

There's a link posted on here for a free download of the McGraw Hill nursing pre-entrance exam study guide, which will be overkill for LPN tests, but it never hurts to be prepared.

TEAS® Exam Practice Questions - Help your Test of Essential Academic Skills™ Score with free unofficial Preparation Materials for the TEAS® Test has some free sample questions but I don't think the study guide that they want you to purchase is worth it.

Just search here, and spend time reading, then you'll have a better idea.

i will be taking the test next week :chair:and broke down and ordered the teas manual and online practice tests. i will get the manual maybee tomarrow and study it and take the practice test. i can help you more when i get the manual and actually take the assessment if you want. just email me here in a few days or day and a half. ;)

from what looked up here on allnurses.com the teas v exam includes:

ø “rules about how electrons sort themselves out in shells of an atom and how many valance electrons etc so i could figure out what would bond....) there was a little physics, a bit on mitosis/meiosis, linean classification, cell structures and differences between bacteria/plants/animal (ie eukaryotes, prokaryotes.)”

ø “math is a little algebra, a lot of long division, addition, subtraction, multiplication of large numbers... tedious. “

ø “the science has no geology like the old version, some genetics (punnitt squares), a lot of chemistry such as periodic table type questions. simple balancing of equations, a lot of stuff where they give you the table and ask you what this number or symbol means and a lot about types of bonds (ionic, covalent, etc). the math was a little pressured b/c you only have 30 minutes to do it and it's a lot of tedious long calculations. know your order of operations in algebra... there are a lot of those. also, know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide mixed numbers 3 1/2 *6 4/5 and stuff.”

ø “focus on decimals and percents, the metric system.. like kg into lbs, cm into inches, basic chemistry like atomic number”

ø “gen micro, gen anatomy/physiology, basics of chem, and basics of physics

ø “cranial nerves and kidney filtration”.

ø “i spent so much time memorizing formulas and conversions and on the test they actually gave the conversions we needed to answer the question! there were only a few questions that required conversions in the first place”.

ø whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, data interpretation, and ratio/proportion)

ø science reasoning, general science knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and physical sciences

Good luck!! I took it a few weeks ago and was not happy with my results. I passed but I was really surprised at my score because I was hoping for better.
